Art Workshops in Ashford

Bauhaus Cafe CIC Pop Up art workshops are coming back from Monday 4th September.

Every Monday afternoon from 1pm to 4pm, David Ridgway artists and art teacher, will teach you to draw and paint in your preferred medium at Ashford Volunteer Centre, Berwich House, 8 Elwick Road, Ashford TN23 1PF.  The cost per session is £15 but we are looking for funding to offer part-funded places to those who can’t afford the full fee.  We will keep you informed as and when.

On Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm, Dave is offering life drawing classes.  Every Thursday, we provide a professional model, and refreshments so all you have to do is bring your pads, pencils or charcoal and join in.  The sessions are £7 and they are extremely popular.

From September onwards, we will be hosting some more of our photography workshops and FREE photo clinics with Doug Harman, best selling photographer.  We’ll keep you informed when these are available.

Our space is now fully accessible with a ramp and a lift, and open to learners and artists of all ages.  We do have resident young artists and art for sale too, and we offer commissioned art but we are here by appointment only so please do email us at info@bauhauscafe.co.uk if you are interested in any of our services.

Hope to meet you here soon.  The Team

Live music at the Gallery

The Creative Collective is now an established arts venue in Ashford offering exhibitions, events, film and poetry nights, volunteering and work experience opportunities and a hub for creative networking and collaborative working.

More recently though, live music, or jam sessions, have become part of our daily lives.  This is essentially thanks to young musicians who grace the gallery with their talent on occasion.  Ashford has a magical music scene with a great number of bands who regularly play in pubs, bars and events.  From what we have seen, it is a tight knit community of talented musicians of all ages and they make Ashford more of a great place to live and be.

With regular live performances and Open Mic and Jam nights at a number of venues across the town such as the George Pub, The Windmill Inn,  the Auction House Bar, there’s plenty for every taste.

Recently, we were introduced to a group of five local young musicians.  They are Himali Blues and we’d like you to take the time to get to know them and  listen  to their music on their website because they have a lot to say and their message is about compassion, friendships and community.  They have just recently released their EP and are looking forward to bigger and better things to come.  The EP will be on sale at The Creative Collective from next week so come and buy your copy here and support them.

10-001

We’ve never seen a group of young men so energetic, so passionate and so keen to take their music to another level.  They’ve attracted crowds of supporters, volunteers to help with their journey, and lots and lots of fans around them.

Oh, and how about checking out the guitar that Anmol is using in the band. It’s been pimped by Stan Hollingworth so, if you fancy having your guitar get a makeover, visit Stan’s Page and send him a message or just pop into the Gallery and we will give you all the details you need.

So if you’re a local band and would like to jam in the gallery do get in touch. If you would like to join us and play at next year’s ArtiGras Festival in May, do let us know as we are starting to recruit. And if you need help with your journey, come and see us and we will help you as much as we can and steer you in the right direction.

Meanwhile, do pop in and say hello. We’re always keen to help.

Take care.  The Team
