The process that Stevie works with is 2D, but her personal favourites are drawing pens and watercolours. She likes to sit down in her spare time and create images of animals; She tends to work in an abstract style because her mind is so active. Owls have become symbolic within her work; birds often appear in her work even without realising she has drawn them.
Stevie’s sketchbooks are her diaries in a way, as if she has coded her thoughts and memories through mark making. Sometimes her work inside them is better than her final pieces because they can be unexpected things that her hands and mind subconsciously control. Her work is built upon metaphorical symbols that represent memories of her childhood that helps her deal with the absence of her father in positive and negative imagery.
Stevie has been inspired by Jackson Pollock, Louise Bourgeois and Jean Haines from their own personal experiences and artistic style.
